About Literacy Connection
(Formerly Blue Ridge Literacy Council)
We transform lives by cultivating literacy skills that promote economic and social success.

We serve native and non-native English speakers through Adult Basic Education and English Language Acquisition. Using a student-centered beyond basics approach, we teach our students within the context of their goal(s). Goals include reaching self-sustaining employment, family literacy/school success, obtaining citizenship, and/or achieving post-secondary credentials including the GED. Our services are delivered by more than 100 trained volunteer tutors,
credentialed instructors, and a small, but highly effective, staff.
We serve nearly 200 learners annually, of whom, 96% reach one or more of their goals.
