ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Thousands of people gathered in downtown Asheville on Saturday afternoon for the third “No Kings” rally, part of a series of demonstrations held across Western North Carolina and the nation.

The Asheville event was one of more than a dozen rallies organized throughout the region. Participants filled downtown streets, carrying signs and chanting as they made their way toward Pack Square.

The demonstration featured speakers, music and organized chants, drawing a large and energetic crowd.

Drivers are urged to use caution in the area because of increased pedestrian traffic as rallygoers move through downtown streets.
