ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — A small section of the Mountains-to-Sea Trail near the Interstate 26 bridge in Asheville is temporarily closed because of nearby construction, officials with the Blue Ridge Parkway said.

The closure affects the trail from about milepost 391.6 to milepost 392.1, according to a social media post from parkway officials.

Construction work on the I-26 bridge is creating potentially unsafe conditions for visitors using that portion of the trail, officials said. Signage and barricades have been placed in the area, and visitors are urged to respect the closure boundaries for safety.

The closure is expected to remain in place until late spring or early summer 2026.
