Schools delay classes as light snow moves through Asheville area

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Patches of light snow and the risk of black ice prompted school delays across the region Thursday morning, as forecasters warned of very light accumulations and temperatures running about 10 degrees below normal before warming later in the day.

Schools on altered schedules include:

Asheville City Schools: Remote learning day
Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College: Two-hour delay
Avery County Schools:
Two-hour delay
Buncombe County Schools: Closed
Burke County Schools: Remote learning day
Haywood Community College: Two-hour delay
Haywood County Schools: Remote learning/optional teacher workday
Henderson County Public Schools: Remote learning day/optional teacher workday
Jackson County Schools – All Districts: Two-hour delay
Madison County Schools: Two-hour delay
Mayland Community College: Two-hour delay
McDowell County Schools: Two-hour delay
McDowell Tech Community College: Two-hour delay
Mitchell County Schools: Two-hour delay
Rutherford County Schools: Two-hour delay
Swain County Schools: Two-hour delay
Transylvania County Schools: Two-hour delay
Yancey County Schools: Two-hour delay
