MILLS RIVER, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Trombone Shorty brought a taste of New Orleans to Western North Carolina on Friday night, Oct. 9, turning up the energy at Sierra Nevada Brewing Co.’s outdoor amphitheater in Mills River.

Troy “Trombone Shorty” Andrews and his band, Orleans Avenue, treated the crowd to their signature mix of funk, jazz, rock, soul and New Orleans brass.

Known for their high-energy performances, the band gave concertgoers plenty to cheer about during a stop on their fall tour.

Andrews seemed just as happy to be there.

“Had so much fun in Asheville tonight,” he wrote in a social media post after the show, adding that he was glad to be back on the road.

The performance brought a little New Orleans flavor to the mountains — and plenty of opportunities for memorable photos.
