UPDATE: Fletcher police said Mills Gap Road has reopened.

FLETCHER, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Fletcher police are investigating a fatal vehicle crash that shut down part of Mills Gap Road on Monday morning.

The road is expected to remain closed for several hours while investigators work to determine the cause of the crash, Fletcher police said in a Facebook post at 10:50 a.m..

Drivers are urged to avoid the area near 126 Mills Gap Road and seek alternate routes. Police said updates on the investigation and road reopening will be shared through the department’s Facebook page.

The names of those involved are being withheld pending notification of family members.
