ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — The Asheville Police Department responded to a non-lethal stabbing in West Asheville last night. The victim said the attack was related to a loaned bicycle.

Around 10:46 p.m., Thursday, July 23, APD responded to a Deaverview Road residence to investigate the stabbing report. Upon arrival, officers encountered a male victim, who was bleeding in several places.

The man was a passenger in a vehicle heading down Hi-Alta Avenue when he spotted someone who had “failed to return a bicycle that had been loaned to him,” APD said.

The man asked his driver to stop the vehicle and exited the vehicle alone. When he approached the loanee, the victim was pepper sprayed and stabbed several times.

“The victim returned to his residence before calling for medical assistance and was transported to Mission Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries,” APD said.
