Man charged with arson in Asheville motel fire

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Asheville police arrested a man early Thursday on arson charges after a fire was reported at a vacant motel on Tunnel Road.

Officers on proactive foot patrol at the Mountaineer Inn, 155 Tunnel Road, saw a fire around 12:38 a.m. and found a man inside a vacant room, police said. Officers extinguished the fire and took the man into custody without incident.

Christopher Marcus Sadler, 28, was charged with first-degree arson and breaking and entering following an investigation, police said.

Sadler was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility and is being held without bond, according to police.
