I-26 East shut down near Asheville after RV fire

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Eastbound lanes of Interstate 26 near mile marker 32 were shut down Monday as firefighters responded to a fully involved recreational vehicle fire, according to the Asheville Fire Department.

Fire officials urged drivers to avoid the area and follow detours while crews worked the scene.

A social media post from the scene said the fire involved an RV and that all occupants were safely out of the vehicle.

No additional injuries were immediately reported. The cause of the fire has not been released.
