ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — “Caverns of Gold: A Benefit for WNC Hurricane Relief” was one of the biggest benefit albums to come out of Tropical Storm Helene recovery efforts. The project attracted tracks from nearly 280 artists from around the globe, calling international attention to Western North Carolina.

This weekend, four “Caverns of Gold” bands will play a benefit show in the spirit of the album. The Caverns Of Gold Showcase Benefit, featuring the bands PINKEYE, Lower Peaks, Why Why? and John Kirby Jr & the New Seniors, will take The Orange Peel’s PULP stage at 8 p.m., Friday, Jan. 9. Find tickets here.

“Each band brings its own energy and vision, from fierce punk urgency to indie experimentation and heartfelt songwriting,” the organizers wrote in a press release.

In addition to a celebration of WNC music, the concert will serve as a warm clothing drive for community members in need. “Caverns of Gold,” in partnership with Asheville Buncombe Community Christian Ministry, will collect coats, jackets, hats, gloves, scarves and other warm clothing for cold weather at the event.

The original “Caverns of Gold” project is still available on Bandcamp for $10. Find out more at cavernsofgold.bandcamp.com.
