CANTON, N.C. (828newsNOW) — The town of Canton is experiencing significant water loss that could cause reduced water pressure or temporary service interruptions for some customers.

Officials say they are actively investigating the problem and are asking residents to help identify possible leaks. The town repaired one leak overnight, but issues persist.

Residents who notice pooling water, flowing water in unusual places or low water pressure are urged to report it immediately to town hall at 828-648-2363 or, after hours, the on-call number at 828-648-2376.

The town’s water department says prompt reporting will help locate and repair the problem more quickly. Officials thanked the public for their cooperation and patience.
