ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — In observation of American Heart Month, the YMCA of Western North Carolina is partnering with Hopscotch Primary Care to bring a free senior health fair to the Asheville YMCA.

The health fair will run from 10 a.m. to noon on Monday, Feb. 9 at the Asheville YMCA, 30 Woodfin St., in downtown Asheville. The event is free and open to both YMCA members and non-members.

Fair attendees will have access to:

  • Free blood pressure and glucose screenings from Hopscotch Primary Care
  • Balance testing to help reduce fall risk
  • Heart-healthy nutrition tools
  • Medicare and insurance guidance
  • Hearing health resources
  • Information on hospice care, adult day programs and healthy aging services

In addition to Hopscotch, over eight local senior-service organizations will be at the fair, “making the event a one-stop opportunity for older adults to connect with trusted providers and learn how to better manage their health,” the YMCA said in a press release.

The health fair will also include a Heart Month-themed presentation from Hopscotch, offering practical health tips attendees can implement immediately.
