ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Bobby White of Asheville has won $1 million on a $30 scratch-off ticket, marking his second major lottery prize.

White won $2 million on a Premier Cash ticket in November 2021, according to the North Carolina Education Lottery.

He purchased the winning MAX-A-MILLION ticket at the Red Dot convenience store on N.C. 213 in Mars Hill.

When he claimed the prize at North Carolina Lottery headquarters Wednesday, White had the option of taking a 20-year annuity of $50,000 per year or a lump sum of $600,000. He opted for the lump sum, which, after state and federal tax withholdings, netted him $430,503.

The MAX-A-MILLION game launched in March, offering 25 top prizes of $1 million and 10 prizes of $100,000. Nineteen $1 million prizes and nine $100,000 prizes remain unclaimed.
