A man who coached at Asheville Christian Academy has been arrested and charged with a sex crime involving a student.

Samuel Jason Ingle, 52, of Black Mountain, was arrested Thursday and charged Friday with felony sexual activity with a student, the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office said. Ingle was placed at the Buncombe County Detention Facility under a $10,000 secured bond. He was not listed as an inmate on the jail’s online roster Friday morning.

The sheriff’s office declined to say when or where the incident happened. According to the arrest warrant issued Wednesday, Ingle was a coach at Asheville Christian Academy and the 18-year-old was a student there.

Efforts to reach Asheville Christian Academy officials were unsuccessful.

Ingle was expected to be in court Friday.
