Arrest made in fatal hit-and-run

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — A man has been arrested in the fatal hit-and-run of a bicyclist Thursday on Swannanoa River Road.

Alexander Rozos, 26, was on a bicycle traveling west near the 300 block of Swannanoa River Road around 11:42 a.m. on July 18 when he was struck by a white box truck traveling in the same lane and direction, Asheville police said in a news release. The driver of the vehicle left the scene before officers arrived. Rozos succumbed to his injuries while on scene; next of kin has been notified.

CYCLIST KILLED IN HIT-AND-RUN ON SWANNANOA RIVER ROAD

Officers found the vehicle and driver Thursday afternoon, police said in the release.

Mauricio Roberto Melgar Delgado, 47, has been charged with felony hit-and-run causing serious injury/death.

Delgado was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility under a $50,000 unsecured bond.
