ARDEN, N.C. (828newsNOW) — The Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office has identified two men found shot to death early Saturday morning in Arden.

The victims were Joshua Sanchez Ramirez, 19, and Darion Armon Smith, 27. Their names were released after family members were notified.

Deputies responded to a report of a gunshot wound around 12:20 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, on Pine Needle Lane near the Henderson County line.

When deputies arrived, they found both men dead from gunshot wounds, according to the sheriff’s office.

Investigators have not released details about what led to the shooting or whether the two men knew each other.

In a statement Saturday, Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office Capt. Dustan Auldredge said investigators were working to identify the shooter and determine what happened.

“Our hearts and thoughts are with the families of the victims,” Auldredge said.

The sheriff’s office has not announced any arrests or released information about a possible suspect.
