YANCEY COUNTY, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Authorities are investigating a fatal side-by-side UTV (Utility Task Vehicle) crash in Yancey County that claimed the lives of an adult and a child.

Preliminary reports from the Yancey County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday indicate that speed was not a factor, and there is no evidence to suggest anything other than a tragic accident.

The investigation is ongoing. Out of respect for the families, the sheriff’s office said no additional details will be released at this time.
