As we close out week 2 after Helene’s destruction, we are feeling that Asheville and surrounding areas are starting feel things are beginning to slowly look up. After yesterday’s great update about the water, we are hearing from more and more people that have their water being turned on. Rizzo was able to meet the CEO of McDonalds who was helping hand out food at the McRig. Jeff finally got his clothes washed downtown at The Laundry Relief Zone…We spoke to Matt Pozda who is the CEO of Call Dad…They are doing amazing work in the community…Rizzo was handed the diabetic baton from Wilford Brimley…We head into the weekend with optimism…WNC STRONG!!

‘Save the Woods’ walkout draws dozens of UNC Asheville students, community members

A crowd of University of North Carolina Asheville students, Asheville community members and local leaders attended a walkout today in front of the Highsmith Student Union on UNC Asheville campus. The protest was organized in support of "Save the Woods," a local rallying cry for the preservation of 45 acres of nearby urban forest.
