Craig Debolt

Born:
Craig Debolt circa 1970 in  Utica, Ohio where I lived out my childhood on country dirt roads (Debolt Road) and avoiding Amish horse poop.  (Well, I guess the horse poo wasn’t Amish – its gas powered!)

I started my radio career in 1986 at what was then an Easy Listening station (you know that crap you hear when trapped in a bank elevator – or third world country torture chambers)  I was able to make all my ‘green’ mistakes there while most off the listeners had already died so very few complaints regarding my early shenanigans.  Rolled through Top 40, Oldies, News/talk and AC radio and finally, Rock Radio in the mid nineties.  (Simpson’s fans should read this next line as Troy McClure- ‘You may remember me from such industrial films as ‘How to avoid incontinence with Kegel exercise’ or as host of “Liquid Lunch” or ‘Craig & Sue in the Morning.’)

Interests:
I live rock radio.  It really kicks when you’re able to roll the classics with the nineties and new rock mixed.  I love to play what people wanna hear so if you’ve got something, send it in and we’ll rock it on ‘The Mountain Work Release Program’ @ 5pm weekdays.  E-mail requests here!  When I’m not rockin’ The Mountain I may be ridin’ it on my ’95th anniversary edition Harley-Davidson 1200 Sportster.

You might also hear my voice if you ever watch our local NBC affiliate, WYFF.  I’ve been doing voicework for them over 10 years now.

Personal:
Happily married to a really cool woman who puts up with my rock n’roll life (mostly, minimal bitching!)  We have a 5 year old, who I like to call, ‘the coolest kid ever.’  Jack Emerson has already made is on-air Mountain debut with the word ‘poop.’  Get used to it – it’s gonna happen.  Hopefully his poop fascination will end soon but at least it’s the FCC friendly version!

Favorite Bands?
AC/DC,  Metallica, Ozzy (w/Sabbath and solo), System Of A Down, Van (Dave) Halen, Genesis (I know this one seems lame but they had some really cool stuff back in the day.)

Favorite Song?
AC/DC’s “Ride On”  One of the greatest songs ever recorded… another fav. Is “Diary Of A Madman” from the Ozz.

Reason for rocking Asheville?
‘Cause this town not only knows how to rock but appreciates having its own great rock station!  I love the local rock scene and the growing support from fans and venues – and now you’ve gotta station to brand the scene as well!

Favorite moment in radio so far?
Lotta great ones but the most fun was getting an arena filled crowd to chant “(insert past competitors name here) SUCKS!”  Good times.  They’re still pissed and that was years ago.
